Hi, If your knee replacement was more than 6 months ago, then you could kayak, but if it was 1 month ago, then I would advise against it. I signed up for the half-day kayaking tour which was 4 hours and we kayaked approximately 7 miles. The intensity of the kayaking really does depend on how rough the water is. You may have trouble getting in/out of the kayak, secondary to bilateral knee replacements. Also, while kayaking, you will have to sit in a frog-legged position, so that may exacerbate some pain. Of note, a tandem kayak provides more stability and balance, whereas the solo kayak requires more balance. You will have a choice. I would call Maine State Sea Kayak if you have anymore concerns or if you would like more information about the trip. Hope you have a wonderful trip!
Q:
How for do you need to be for the half day trip...2 hrs?
A:
Based on our experience, I do not think you need to be particularly fit to complete this trip. However, we had a calm low wind day.
Q:
Cost. Various lengths?
A:
$55/ person.
