A huge Mexican flag is located in the center of the large square. On one side is the large cathedral which is equally impressive inside and out. It is the quintessential photo opportunity! Inside it …Full review by Sasha M

When planning our trip to Mexico City, I wanted to book a hotel with easy access to Zocalo in the heart of the city's historic district. We lucked out, landing 2.5 blocks away from the Plaza de la Co…Full review by FancyFree55

How much time would you recommend I plan to spend walking around just the square and seeing the various sites in it? Please don't count any time I might spend in a church, museum, or separate attraction on the square. I'm trying to figure out if this is a 2 hour, 4 hour, whole day, etc. kind of thing.

Are they still doing the bringing down of the flags? If so, what time? Is the Zocalo currently opened? I remember I went a few years back and I loved the soldiers come in and do the flag ceremonies.

We went in July-August 2023 for week to Mexico City and stayed at a hotel right across the Palacio Nacional for a full week. We were disappointed-no fanfare for raising and lowering the flag. We wanted our granddaughters to have that experience like we had had 3 times before. Soldiers would come out from the Palacio Nacional and raise it in the morning and lower it in the evening, but no drumming, bugles and trumpets playing la marcha, no soldiers marching, everything done fast and silent.
