A late first-half surge was enough separation for No. 1 Duke, which got 18 points from Cooper Flagg and 25 from Tyrese Proctor on its way to a second-round win over Baylor in Raleigh.

It’s the second straight Sweet 16 appearance for Duke after the Blue Devils lost in the second round as a No. 5 seed in Scheyer’s first season in 2023. A year ago, Duke made the Elite Eight as a No. 4 seed before losing to ACC rival NC State.

The “Duke Invitational’’ came to a predictable close, with the Blue Devils dispatching of Baylor to breeze their way into yet another Sweet 16.

Playing with two fouls late in the first half, Cooper Flagg had seven of Duke’s 12 points to turn a six-point lead into 17 en route to an 89-66 second-round win over Baylor.
