A new rumor suggests that the iPhone 17 family won’t get the new Apple C1 cellular modem, with the tech giant opting for a MediaTek 5G chip as Cupertino seeks to reduce its reliance on Qualcomm.

Most of Apple's iPhone 17 lineup won't be using its new C1 modem, Ming-Chi Kuo claims, but they will still benefit from a new in-house Wi-Fi chip design.

Phone 17 5G modems will be made by MediaTek, as Apple moves away from Qualcomm. Future iPhones will use Apple's solutions instead.
