An octopus came flying onto the Delta Center ice. What started as a tradition for Detroit Red Wings fans in 1952 made its way to Salt Lake City for the first time on Monday night as Utah Hockey Club fell 5-1.

Celebratory chants echoed throughout the Delta Center late in the third period. Unfortunately for the Utah Hockey Club, they were from the fans wearing red. That celebration hit a crescendo with 2:54 on the clock when the Detroit Red Wings added an empty-netter en route to their 5-1 win.

The Detroit Red Wings had no answer when coach Todd McLellan asked the last time they had scored on a 2-on-1 break. That's when the drills started.
