Ellen Pompeo has embodied the figure of Dr Meredith Grey on our screens for two decades now in Grey’s Anatomy. However, the 55-year-old actress is now appearing in a very different role in Hulu’s true crime series Good American Family which explores the bizarre and real-life adoption of Ukrainian orphan Natalia Grace (Imogen Faith Reid).

Ellen Pompeo embarks on her first TV role outside Grey's Anatomy, and she's already showing her darker colors by taking on the true crime genre.

"Good American Family" is available to stream on Hulu as of Wednesday. The first two episodes, "Almost Like a Prayer" and "Jump the Jitters Out," are now available.

Pompeo pivots from 'Grey's Anatomy' to playing the adoptive mother to Grace in Hulu's 'Good American Family' limited series, which dramatizes the true story with multiple conflicting perspectives.
