ESA’s Euclid mission spots 26 million galaxies in first survey data set
The European Space Agency’s Euclid space mission has detected 26 million galaxies, some as far away as 10.5 billion light-years, in the first sweep of the three regions of the sky to which it will devote in-depth observations in the coming years.
The Euclid mission aims to learn more about dark matter and dark energy from the large-scale structure of the cosmic web.
