Dozens of families were displaced after an evacuation order was placed Thursday night following a massive explosion inside a Pacoima home.

Officials said evidence was found of chemicals used to produce fireworks, prompting the decision to do a controlled burn to remedy the situation.

The LAPD evacuated 60 homes in the area Friday evening before the controlled burn, while firefighters covered nearby buildings with thermal gel to protect them.
