The use of AI in video games continues to stir controversy, and Horizon series actor Ashly Burch has spoken out about the leaked internal Sony video featuring a generative AI version of Aloy.

Ashly Burch, the award-winning voice and performance actor behind Horizon Zero Dawn ’s Aloy — one of the most prominent characters on PlayStation today — has some news and some very strong thoughts about the leaked Sony experiment that saw her character voiced and performed by AI technology instead of her or any other human being.

On 15 March, 2025, actress Ashly Burch – who plays Aloy in the Horizon franchise – posted a video statement on the leaked AI footage, emphasising that she was told that her performance was not used to create the AI model. She also reflected that she was “worried about this art form.”
