The man was drinking alcohol while on a video call with a family member Wednesday night before entering a pond at a Southside apartment complex.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the man was on a video call with a family member at the time he entered the pond and drowned.

A man who police said was caught breaking into cars at a local dealership on Jacksonville’s Westside drowned in a retention pond Tuesday morning after running from police, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
