Taking a step away from the Jets, Mikko Rantanen, who is currently sixth in NHL scoring with 64 points, was traded out of the Central Division on Friday night. He was moved from the Colorado Avalanche to the Carolina Hurricanes in a massive, three-team blockbuster deal, sending Martin Necas back to Colorado and Taylor Hall from Chicago to Carolina.

Cole Perfetti had a hat-trick and Nikolaj Ehlers had three points of his own, including his 500th career point, as the Winnipeg Jets (33-14-3) took care of business at home, beating the Utah Hockey Club (21-20-7) 5-2 on Friday night.
The Winnipeg Jets responded exactly how HC Scott Arniel wanted them to, defeating Utah HC 5-2. Cole Perfetti recorded his first career hat trick and Nikolaj Ehlers reached 500 career points, picking up a goal and three assists.
“Being a little prick to play against,” the 23-year-old said before the Jets faced off against Utah. “Not being fun to play against. Be annoying, reliable in all zones. Eventually the production is going to come.”
Ehlers, a game-time decision because he’d woken up sick, assisted on two of Perfetti’s goals, including the empty-netter, to reach 500 career points, drawing a standing ovation from what was left of a crowd of 13,878.
