While speaking to reporters on Friday, Marcus Stroman said he is a “starter” and will not move to the bullpen. When asked about Stroman’s comments, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone was seemingly more focused on the fact that it is still the middle of February.

Aaron Boone said he “had an idea” that Marcus Stroman wouldn’t show up for workouts these last two days and that he understands “how it looks.” He called it “a little bit of an awkward” situation, but he’s talked to Stroman and he expects him in camp in the next few days.

Aaron Boone may be happy with where Marcus Stroman is mentally after a winter full of noise about the veteran right-hander being traded. The New York Yankees manager, however, isn’t thrilled about where Stroman has been physically for the first two days of official pitchers-and-catchers workouts.
