People across north Georgia and metro Atlanta enjoyed a snow day on Friday, but it’s not always just fun and games. Channel 2′s Bryan Mims was in Fannin County in the north Georgia mountains where snow and ice caused an accident on a slick highway that sent a woman to the hospital.

The Georgia Department of Agriculture announced it had detected a case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza, sometimes called bird flu, in a small, backyard flock of chickens and ducks in Clayton County.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been detected in a backyard flock in Oakland County, the second case reported in the county since 2022.
