DETROIT -- With summer travel season just a few months away, Spirit Airlines has announced six nonstop routes will be added to its offerings departing from Detroit Metro Airport (DTW). The additions combine a trio of returning routes with three new destinations for Spirit flights out of Detroit.

Two budget carrier airlines are launching new flights at Detroit Metro Airport this spring. On Monday, Spirit Airlines announced six new and resuming, nonstop destinations from DTW. Tuesday, Avelo Airlines announced new nonstop service from DTW to Charlotte and Wilmington, N.C.
