Winchester Prison was described as "unsafe" after a visit by HM Inspectorate of Prisons in October. Inspectors say drones were used to deliver drugs, weapons and even takeaway food to HMP Manchester.

On Tuesday, the Princess of Wales continued her return to work with a visit to a mother and baby unit in a women’s prison.

HM Prison Service has spent £200m outsourcing its wireless Lans and IT infrastructure to EDS. The 12-year Quantum project will replace more than 12,500 desktops and 30,000 telephones.
