The United States has officially updated its maps to Gulf of America. Google has renamed the Gulf of Mexico for some users. Here's what we know.

The Federal Aviation Administration, which oversees airline flights, and the U.S. Coast Guard, which patrols the coastal waters, also announced changing the name to Gulf of America on their paperwork.

Google Maps now labels the Gulf of America for U.S. users, and the Gulf of Mexico for those in Mexico. This isn't the first body of water to have different names according to different countries.
