The Sharks nearly dealt pending unrestricted free agent defenseman Cody Ceci to the Canucks before sending him to the Stars along with Mikael Granlund over the weekend, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period said Tuesday.

It is no secret Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci were well respected in the San Jose Sharks locker room. Players were clearly in a down mood and gave their reactions to the trade after practice on Sunday.

Dallas sent a 2025 first-round pick and a conditional third-round pick to San Jose for Granlund and Ceci just over a week before the league takes a break for the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament.
