Jun 29, 2019 · There are various tank sealers, like redkote, kreem, por-15 that you might be able to swish around where the leak is. I doubt these would stick to a plastic tank very well overall, but you might be able to get it to fill the leaky spot. I'm with the prior responses - plastic weld it with a soldering iron. Side note: lots of ventilation if you do.

Jul 2, 2012 · The fuel permeates the plastic of the fuel tank and will cause the eventual failure of the bond. The only way to repair it is to either replace the tank or weld the plastic. I use a 1500 watt heat gun to preheat the area and a low wattage soldering iron (33watt, with a rheostat to adjust the heat) to weld the two surfaces back together.

Sep 17, 2012 · I've used "Seal All" on plastic fuel tanks with very good success. It's made especially for sealing gas and oil and can be used on metal tanks. I've used it on a number of other projects including sealing coolant return tanks, ripped seat covers, on and on.

Feb 21, 2012 · Not in my case. It was an MS025. I cut off the remaining stub with a Dremel tool and drilled the plastic tank with a brad point bit to get a smooth hole. The threaded portion of the barb does not need to go deep into the fuel tank - cut it off if it is too long. Look for a small diameter thread if clearance is an issue.

Mar 23, 2010 · My 395 was leaking gas, but I couldn't tell from where. Pulled the tank and found the top had partially separated at the seam. I just cleaned it up and lightly melted it with a soldering iron. The melted plastic flowed into the seam and sealed up real nice.
