In the years after the Islamic revolution of 1979, 60 Minutes reporter George Negus went face to face with Ali Khamenei, who back in 1982 when this rare interview was conducted was the President of Iran. The Grand Ayatollah was in office as the 3rd president of the Islamic regime from 1981-1989, after which was elected supreme leader in 1989 - a position he's continued to hold until the present.
